Class Description:

What do we enforce with a limit to our resources? What is going to make the biggest impact for energy efficiency? We will provide a brief overview of 90.1-2019. This class will provide some of the top items for both plan review and field inspection. Creating a top ten list for the thermal envelope, mechanical, service water heating interior and exterior lighting systems and their controls.

Our instructors will focus on the Oregon-specific perspective.

About our Presenters:

Hope Medina is passionate about energy efficiency and sustainability. She holds several International Code Council (ICC) certifications that she utilizes as a plan analyst, inspector, and instructor.  Ms. Medina is very active in the code development process, regularly attending the International Code Councils’ code development hearings to participate in improving the various building codes, and is Chair of the Colorado Chapter of ICC Code Development Committee for the green codes and standards and energy codes. Hope is the Vice-Chair of ICC’s Sustainability Membership Council, and chairs the advocacy subcommittee. She is a member of ICC’s Sustainability, Energy, and High-Performance Code Action Committee (SEHPCAC).  Hope has sat on the consensus committee for the National Green Building Standard(NGBS)  for several cycles.

Having been in the construction industry for over 40 years, Gil bring a hands-on perspective to building code compliance. He was the Chief Building Official for Parker, Colorado from 2003-2016 and has been active in building code development. He served on the International Residential Code / Plumbing and Mechanical code development committee for the 2009 and 2012 editions of the IRC and on the Commercial Energy Code development committee for the 2015 IECC, 2018 IECC and the Residential Energy Code Development committee for the 2021 IECC. Gil currently is on the ICC Code Correlation Committee.

ICC Preferred Provider Program Continuing Education Credit (ICC PPP CEUs):

OBOA is an approved International Code Council (ICC) Preferred Provider. The Preferred Provider Program recognizes and promotes ICC-approved educational offerings as they relate to codes, standards and guidelines, as well as building construction materials, products and methods. ICC certificate holders may obtain ICC CEUs from Preferred Providers that can be applied toward the renewal requirements of ICC’s certification program. It is the intent of OBOA that all classes offered at institutes will be approved for the Preferred Provider Program.

ICC PPP Approved Course | 0.6 CEUs (must attend all six hours to receive credit)

An ICC CEU is a continuing education unit; each 10 clock hours of continuing education equals 1 CEU. Our typical one-day seminar has 6 hours of instruction, or 0.6 CEUs. Credit is awarded for a variety of activities wherein the objective is achieving relevant professional knowledge beyond that required for initial certification. Participation in all OBOA courses are approved for International Code Council (ICC) certification renewal continuing education credits as noted for each class. Please check with your appropriate jurisdiction and/or institution regarding your specific continuing education credit needs.
