  • The Chief Building Official position has not been filled since the Great Recession. • There is a lack of consistent systems, processes and business practices in the Building and Safety Division. The new Chief Building Official will need to have background in continuous process improvement and be able to overcome resistance to change and a "that's the way we have always done it" sentiment among team members.
  • The City is moving to a new Land Management/Permitting System. The new Chief Building Official will be expected to help lead the development and implementation of this System so knowledge of these kinds of systems will be absolutely needed.
